Kalyana Venkateshwaraswamy Temple Origin

Exact origin of Srinivasa Mangapuram is not known. It is supposed to be constructed in 1540 CE, as per the belief of many devotees. Initially this temple was ruined by the invasion of Sultans. Some of the inscriptions inside the temple indicate that Chinna Tirumala Acharya refurbished this temple to its current position.

He is supposed to be grandson of the legendary poet and Saint Annamacharya. After renovation, the temple was managed by the descendants of Tallapaka Chinna Tirumala for many years. In the year 1967 Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam took over this temple and maintains it till date.

Significance Of Idol

The main deity of Srinivasa Mangapuram is Lord Venkateswara which is taller in size than in the famous Tirumala temple. Also, this idol is more attractive than the deity at Tirumala, since Lord is in Kalyana Thirukkolam (newlywed). Devotees who are not able to go to Tirumala can offer their prayers at this temple. It is believed that Lord Venkatewara along with his wife Padmavathi visited the great Sage Agasthya ashram near Swarnamukhi river banks in Chandragiri hills.

It is also said they stayed here for 6 months before the Lord entered into Tirumala hills. Sage Agasthya asked them not to climb hills for at least six months, since they are just married and requested them to stay near his Ashram.  Later this holy place wherein the Lord lived with his wife became Srinivasa Mangapuram.
