Geographical Indication

In 2009 TTD has registered laddu for geographical indication, to prevent black market selling. In other words, TTD has got patent rights for making Laddus under the GI act of 1999.

Types Of Prasadams

  1. In Tirumala Tirupati prasadams fall under two categories namely Annaprasadam (rice) and Paniyaram (laddu, vada,poli, dosa, jalebi and appam).
  2. Every devotee visiting Tirumala can get free annaprasadams after having Darshan of Lord Venkateswara. These include pulihora (tamarind rice), sakkaraipongal, venpongal and curd rice. 
  3. Devotees can also have free meals daily which includes rice, sambar, rasam, and mor (curd) with vegetables and payasam (sweet).
  4. Pilgrims performing Sevas like Kalyanotsavam and other Arjitha Sevas can get laddu (big size), vada and other prasadams. 

Making Of Laddu

Tirupati Laddu is different from the type of laddu we make at home and available in the market. This contains special flavor and perfect proportion of ingredients to derive at the end product being tasty and mouth-watering.

  • Gram flour, Kalkandu (crystal sugar), can sugar, camphor, cardamom, cashew nuts, raisins and plenty of ghee are used in preparing Laddu. 
  • Earlier all devotees were given one small sized free laddu after having darshan. However TTD has started offering free annaprasadams for devotees instead of Laddu. 
  • Any devotee can get laddu at the laddu counter placed at the back side of Tirumala. At present the size of each laddu is 160 gm costing Rs.50. 
  • You can get extra laddu (unlimited) for paying additional amount depending on the availability. 
  • Devotees who attend Kalyanotsavam Seva are offered big sized laddu (750 gm) along with vada, one blouse as bahumanam. 

Tirupati & Tirumala Laddu Online Booking

  • Currently TTD has stopped booking of laddus online. 
  • But devotees can get laddu by physically visiting the nearest TTD center in their area.
  • You can easily find TTD center in your area and place bulk orders also. 
  • Department of Post has tie-up with TTD for sending laddus through speed post.

When Online Booking Of Laddu Is Possible?

If you are booking for special entry ticket costing Rs.300 or any other Arjitha Sevas online, there you will get an option of booking online laddu. You can get them after having darshan or having completed the Seva. 

Beware of fake websites that promises delivering Tirupati laddus online.
